Kids Clubs with Rachel
Join us every Saturday for the Gleebooks Kids Club with Rachel!
We’ll eat popcorn, talk about books and sometimes invite the author/illustrator to join us too! It’s a free and fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Once you have been registered you’re also entitled to 10% off all kid’s books. Our book clubs run for an hour, and will be socially distanced with lots of hand sanitizer as per our COVID-Safe plan.
Each Saturday of the month will be for a different school year group (but all ages are welcome!):
1st Saturday: Primary Year 3-4
2nd Saturday: Primary Year 5-6
3rd Saturday: Secondary Year 7-8
4th Saturday: Secondary Year 9-10
And that’s not all! Rachel also hosts Rhyme Time every Monday at 10am – songs and rhymes best-suited for age two-and-under (though everyone is welcome) and Story Time every Friday at 10am (for ages 3-5). Looking forward to seeing you all!
For more information contact Rachel at email@example.com and be sure to follow our madhatters_gleeparty Instagram page where Rachel will update you with any last minute schedule or venue changes.
Belated Easter greetings booklovers,
Hope you are all relaxed, full of chocolate and reading loads of fabulous books. Just a quick update on all the books, authors and dates we have for the next few weeks.
Our year 7/8s meet on Saturday the 17th at 3:30pm to talk about Agatha Christie’s Murder On The Orient Express and Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time. Two oldies that just keep being requested by the kids.
Our year 9/10s have another author visit this month with Kathryn Barker joining us to talk about her latest blockbuster Waking Romeo. This is getting some awesome reviews and we can’t wait to catch up with her on Saturday the 24th of April at 4:30pm.
We were originally getting a visit from Jacquie Harvey on May 8th for our year 3/4 book club, but since the announcement of the quarantine free travel arrangements with NZ, she is flying home to visit family she has not seen for 15 months. So rather than speak to her online, she will be back in August and Lisa Siberry (who we booked for June) is coming instead. Lisa will be joining us to talk about her fabulous new spy series Plum and Woo on May 8th at 3:30pm.
Another important note is we have no bookclub for anyone on May 1st as we are the official booksellers for the Sydney Writers Festival. That weekend is a huge one for us as it is Family Day on the Sunday and lots of teen stuff happening on the Saturday. Please check out the Writers Festival website to see all the wonderful events for kids on that weekend. This has a knock on effect with book clubs for May (there is an extra Saturday in May) so it does not follow our usual 1st week =Yr 3/4 etc. Please take extra notice of the dates for May book clubs to avoid mix ups.
So looking forward to catching up with you all during the month, always available for recommendations if you run out of books over the holidays too.
Happy reading folks,
